The consensus opinion of numerous recent neuro-biological investigations supports the contention that aging and accompanying brain degeneration may be related to a relatively finite number of processes gone awry. The mix in any individual differs, but the basic processes remain the same. Summary of Clinical Study conducted for Advanced Metabolics
Background
The Lucidal formulation was tested in a prospective, randomized, double blind placebo-controlled clinical trial. The duration of the trial was three months and it was conducted by Marshall-Blum, LLC, an independent clinical outcomes specialist. Participants in the study were adult men and women between the ages of 30 and 75 years old.
Results
No adverse events (side effects) were reported. The clinical study utilized two widely accepted cognitive tests to determine the product's effectiveness on multiple cognitive performance parameters. The VIGIL test assesses cognitive reaction time and the ability to focus, sustain attention, and concentrate. The California Verbal Learning Test (CVLT-II) measures memory and learning, as well as attention and concentration.
The Lucidal formulation was shown to be efficacious for improving cognitive performance as evidenced by the results of the trial, which reached statistical significance on several measures and showed statistical trending on others. The Lucidal formulation was shown to improve:
- Memory, specifically the ability to remember and recall information
- Mental energy
- Mental clarity
- The ability to focus and concentrate, sustain attention
- The speed of cognition or thought; cognitive reaction time
- Learning with practice
Additional Outcomes
In addition to testing for the effectiveness of improving cognitive performance outcomes, the clinical trial also tested the Lucidal formulation on a number of depression, anxiety, and mood outcomes, which also produced high statistical significance. The subjects in the study completed the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) and the Beck Anxiety Score. The BDI-II measures sadness, agitation, energy, sleep, irritability, fatigue, and concentration. The results showed that the Lucidal formulation also improved:
- Depression: The results showed a statistically significant improvement in depression, with statistical significance at a P value of .06.
- Anxiety: Subjects completed the Beck Anxiety Score. The results showed a high statistical significant improvement in anxiety for those on the product, with a P value of .04.
- Mood: The mood score is a calculation based on subjects' combined scores on both the Beck Anxiety and Depression tests. The results were highly statistically significant, with a P value of .027 showing that the Lucidal formulation dramatically improved mood.
